My Little Red Head

Today is not a special or significant date. I just miss Jessie  today. Tomorrow I am giving the talk at Inside Out and for the first time (that I speak) I won't look out and see her encouraging face.  Btw, Marley Ruth pulled out her Tickle Me Elmo this week . Brent and I looked at each other with a smile, but a sad heart. So many memories.

Trendy Moms

It is official. I am no longer a trendy mom. Here's why:

*My children don't wear handmade clothes made from vintage fabric. 

*Neither one of them have bows bigger than their heads. 

*I wear tennis shoes. 

*My make up only comes out on Sundays. 

*Blogger still has me baffled. 

*I don't have any photos of my family wearing white shirts and jeans on the beach.

*There are no leather bound journals recording their sweet sayings and antics in my house.

*My husband helps me cook.

*I don't make homemade bread.

*You will not find a red, pink, or blue Kitchen aid mixer in my kitchen.

*My children's toys are Fisher Price from Target, not sewn or carved.

*Marley Ruth has never made a felt craft for any of her relatives or friends.

*She doesn't own a special ordered smock when she finger paints nor does she wear a hand sewn apron with crayons in it.

*I can't bring myself to pay $25-$50 for a pillow case dress.

None of these things are bad. On the contrary I enjoy looking at and dreaming about all of these things. I have strived to be trendy in the past, but now I am wore out and broke. 

Farrah Blake is three months old today! I can't believe it.  She is a stinking sweet heart. Cuddling, Grinning, and Cooing are her favorite activities right now.  At three months old Marley Ruth could roll over, hold her passy and put it in her mouth (this should have been seen as a warning of her future activity:). Farrah Blake is quite the opposite. She just lies there looking sweet. I consider this God's mercy;). I love watching both of my girls grow into their little personalities made by God.  My best friend Tessa (who has 4 kiddos under the age of 3) and I were talking today about how each of our children kicked differently in the womb. Oddly their movement in the womb has been an indicator of their future personalities! Marley Ruth kicked constantly, and Farrah Blake rarely moved. I even went to the doctor worried about Farrah Blake's movement! God knows us even before we enter this world! How marvelous is HE! I praise the Lord for my little girls!

Consignment shopping

Recently, Brent and I have made an agreement that I would over see our spending;). Being thrifty is fun for me and I enjoy a good deal. Yesterday I decided that I needed to go to some consignment stores to look for shoes for Marley Ruth. Guess what I found there....... a $20 pair of toddler sandles!?!?!? Not just one pair was priced this way, but many of the shoes in this shop were $20! If another kid's sweaty, dirty feet have been in those shoes and they show some wear, they are NOT worth $20. People! We are in a recession and I can't even buy used shoes for cheap. Something is wrong!

Fantasy Sports

What can I say? I married a sports nut, so tonight is one of those nights where he kisses me and leaves at 9 pm to do Fantasy Baseball. Do you know what Fantasy sports are? Oh well, consider yourself one of those blessed wives. When you hear a man say the word "fantasty" you might think he is talking about sex. No, most men now associate the word "fantasy" with sports. Fantasy sports are when men sit in front of their computers and pretend that they are the general managers of a team. Tonight Brent and his buds are preparing for baseball season. It is the big draft night.  They will draft players on the computer.  They are real baseball players, but not real life... get it?  Me either.  Players are chosen based on their statistics, and sometimes by who your husband likes.  Throughout the season your hubby's team receives points based on their players real life performance. If they so choose, players can be traded and trades can be protested by the other men in their league. Have I lost you? Just know this, if you husband asks if he can do fantasy sports consider the amount of time he already checks his blackberry, email, and watches ESPN, etc. and times that by three. However, I have to consider one important thing...... at least he is with his buddies and only checking out sports. He could be doing other things. So, have fun tonight honey!

Windy Gap Weekend!

This year our student ministry hosted an event called ELEVATE at the Young Life camp Windy Gap. We invited other churches from Brevard for a weekend of worshiping our Savior! Six churches attended and around 100 teenagers came. The weather could not have been more perfect! Many lives were changed and students were challenged to not flinch under the pressure of the world but stand firm in the One who made us!
