Elvis has Left the Building
Marley Ruth has a fever of 101.7 today so I took her to Hendersonville Peds.  She knows everyone there. Seriously, they spoil my children.  We go to church with several people there and we are good friends with Dr. Myers (her and her hub paid a man to play the banjo on our porch @7am this past fall?). Anyway, I love watching other kids and their parents. It seems that I always hear the strangest names. While we were waiting we met a little girl named Olive. Right before we went back Anna (old YL kid & nurse) pokes her head out and says, "ELVIS! ELVIS!" I thought she was kidding. Nope. In goes a teeny beeny newborn. Yep. Elvis has left the building.

Confession...
I have The View on DVR and I like it.
You can't change my mind.
Whoopi is cool and down to earth.
Joy makes me pee with her comments (even though she has a writer and her jokes are not spontaneous).
Sherri is joyful, loud (love that quality:), and she is honest about her past.
Elisabeth has a great eye for fashion and I love to hear stories about her kids (although sometimes I wish she would shut up).
Babs.....well, give me time I'll find something to put here.
It's not you it's me
Many of you have asked if my previous post about my little wild child was written about a specific person or incident. No, it was not written about about anyone or specific incident. It was written bc I have been comparing myself and my child to other people. Thankfully God has shown me that I am to raise and discipline my children according to His word, not the families that I think have perfectly behaved children. We are all different and unique. That is what makes us the body of Christ.

Run Forest!
I went to my friend's wedding a week ago and ran into a old friend named Amy. She was the only other mom there out of all of our friends. Amy is incredibly beautiful and sweet to boot. We talked about our children and the weight gain with two babies. I have had such a hard time. Amy shared that she set a goal and ran a half marathon. Crazy, but for the first time I was intrigued and interested in running. I don't run anywhere! With much research and thought I have decided that I am going to train for a 5k (don't laugh... remember I don't run). After conquering the 5k in September I am going to move on to a half marathon. The cool thing is that two of my former BCSM students are going to run and train with me! Hopefully we can encourage one another to push on! I will keep you up dated with my new adventure. Make no mistake, there will be some complaining:)

My Kid is Better Than Yours.....
....that is what you are thinking anyway. When my kid is screaming in the super market, "I DON'T WANNA RIDE IN THE BUGGY!" you roll your eyes and think, "I'm glad my little angel doesn't act that way". Just to let you know for two years I have cried and asked God why my child isn't mild mannered and peaceful like other children I see. I consistantly did the whole "cry it out" method with Marley Ruth. It took over five months for her to get it, while my friends babies were driffting off into a quiet slumber. We sit and eat at the table almost every night. She is underneath it, around it, and on top of it. I have put my kid in time out and spanked her numerous times, and in return she grins. She runs....EVERY WHERE. The guilt of being a bad mom and comparing my child, and my parenting skills consumed me until three months ago. That's right...when my second little off spring was born. From the moment she came out she slept peacefully. In her third month, she just lays there cooing (i hate that word) and grinning. But all she does is lay there or sleep? Marley Ruth could roll over from both sides and hold her passy before three months! You see, I'm not crying anymore because I know that God gave Marley Ruth to Brent and me for a reason. We are still figuring out all of the reasons;). Maybe if you would have had her you would not have been able to handle her free spirit. My child is my child. She has a fun, people loving, care free, and creative spirit. Yes, I have to work twice as hard with her in the area of discipline, but I love every moment. The reason you don't understand is because you had a "Farrah Blake" first, and you think the reason they are easy is all because of you. WRONG!  Marley Ruth and Farrah Blake have their little personalities and quirks because God knit them that way in my womb (or uterus... whatever you wanna call it). Your child had their personalities long before you started making them "cry it out". Yes, I agree we are to guide and discipline. Make no mistake I see nothing wrong in being firm (i have to do it a thousand times more than you). Just don't judge or roll your eyes when you see another mom struggle with her kid. She might be doing the same things as you are or even more with her child. It just might take our children a little longer to get it, but we have more interesting stories than you;)

Metcalf Catch Up
Let me catch you up on the Metcalf's.....

*Last Friday we went to the RiverBanks zoo in Columbia. Genius of us to go on Good Friday...WITH THE REST OF SOUTH CAROLINA. Elephants were brown not gray? Flamingos smell putrid. The Bengal Tiger was MIA. The Sea Lions, Meerkats, and Gorillas made me smile bc they made my kiddo smile.
*Saturday was a fun day of driving around Columbia, eating at RUSH's (it's a must), and going to my college room mate's Wedding. It was a beautiful day. Christa's wedding was on a gorgeous farm right on a little pond. She looked the most beautiful that I have ever seen her. Guess you are supposed to look your best on the big day:). Many of my old college friends were there. Some things never change, we were the group in the corner of the dance floor being complete idiots. We danced to groups ranging from the Pussy Cat Dolls to Hank Williams Jr. Congrats to Christa and Matt!
*Brent left the wedding early and is currently leading a family mission trip to New Orleans. Seriously, how sweet was it that he came to see the girls at the zoo, and went to Christa's wedding with me? He had to drive to NC after the wedding and leave at 6 am the next morning to drive the group to New Orleans! Sweet Boy!
*Easter Sunday was spent traveling home. Sadly, my girls missed out on dressing up in their Easter dresses and going to church, dying and hunting eggs, but by granny we ate at Cracker Barrel, and read the Easter Story (we will read it through out the year, not just on one day:).
*Due to the fact that I am a chicken and hate spending the week in my house alone(every one and their brother knows where I live and when we are alone), the girls and I have been spending the week w/ my parents. I am getting my fill of home cooked meals, FOX news, Redneck slang, and "saving the scraps for the dogs". Marley Ruth has an ear infection and Farrah Blake has a cold. Thank goodness I have two extra set of hands helping this week:). Btw, my mom is teaching me how to sew on my new sewing machine I received for Christmas. So far, I have come to the conclusion that I should just stick to painting.
*One last thing....we actually saw the sun today!
